Rich and Poor
Our topic this half term has been, Rich and Poor. Within this topic, we have had a key focus on World War 2 with discussions centred around Rationing and what life would have been like at this time. Some of our children brought in their own family artefacts and heirlooms dating back to 1940.
As another mini unit, we looked closely at the Shang Dynasty, specifically focussing on the hierarchy structure in society and how life differed for people at the top of the pyramid compared to people at the bottom.
In DT, we have been researching, designing and making 1940s toys, mainly from cardboard as we talked about how people living at this time didn't have much money and certainly couldn't treat their children to the wonderful toys and games we have in our world today.
