Autumn 2

Festivals Week (w/c 7/11/22)

We have all thoroughly enjoyed learning about celebrations and festivals from other cultures. We have been exploring the Hindu and Sikh festival of Diwali. It is the festival of lights.

We made our own diva lamps and rangoli patterns. We even created our own mendhi patterns on our handprints.

We also explored the origins of Bonfire Night and Guy Fawkes. We celebrated by eating hot dogs at the end of the day.

We have begun preparing for our Christmas performance, so we had many talks about the nativity and birth of Jesus from the Christian faith. We can't wait to perform it for you all in December.

The week ended with a Remembrance Day assembly and day of activities. we thought about the sacrifices made by others and why that was so important. Together we collaborated to make a wreath to pay tribute and respect to those who fought in the war.

As the weather has been getting colder we have been investigating what happens to water when it gets cold. Lots of the children already knew that if it was cold enough it would freeze- nobody expected all of our toys to get trapped in the ice though!

We have also really enjoyed lots of Christmas mark making, pencil control and writing activities.

Together we: Dream, believe, achieve and succeed
