Escape to the Country
This half term, we will be learning all about World War II. We will focus on why the war started, significant individuals involved in the war and key events such as The Blitz and children being evacuated.
To start the topic off, the children learnt about Morrison Shelters. They then heard the sound of a siren and had to hide under the tables in the dark whilst listening to our new story: The Lion and the Unicorn.
Science
Our current Science topic, is sound. We have learnt about how sound is made and how sound travels.
We had a fantastic 'Marvellous Middle' to our topic! The children came into school dressed as evacuees. Miss Riches and Mr Ankcorn met the children at the gate playing the sound of a steam train and handing out identification badges. The children then experienced a fun-filled day learning all about evacuation during WWII.
In Art, we have been working towards sketching a WWII soldier.
As part of our WWII work, we explored the positives and negatives of evacuation and wrote a balanced argument.
