A message from the Headteacher
Welcome to Crown Meadow First School and Nursery.
We believe that it is the children of Crown Meadow that are the most important thing about us. We value them greatly and recognise that they are all individuals with their own role to play in our school community.
We understand that it is important to create an environment in school that supports the children in feeling fulfilled, safe and secure. We have high expectations of everyone in all aspects of school life – including our vital partnership with their families. We understand that when school and families work closely together; they are in agreement and both share the same values, that children thrive.
Crown Meadow is an inclusive, nurturing and community-facing 2 form entry first school that aims to provide a high-quality education for children from 2 to 9 years old. Our location, in the heart of Alvechurch village, provides us with an ideal setting and our purpose-built campus, which we share with Alvechurch Library and Alvechurch Middle School, is modern and spacious.
Our building's unique design, which was inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, is in keeping with our commitment to sustainability. We exploit the benefits of our expansive campus in order to provide ample opportunities for our children to play, investigate and explore all of our many and varied outdoor spaces.
Children in our nursery are taught by a qualified teacher and skilled support staff. Children progress from Reception to Year 4 and are engaged in enriching learning opportunities led by our dedicated team of teachers and teaching assistants.
Crown Meadow places an emphasis on the development of the whole child and aims to prepare our children well for the next stage of their education, as well as life beyond Crown Meadow. The children are kept at the heart of everything we do and we consider the needs of each individual child to be vitally important. Our aim is to support their social, emotional, physical, moral as well as cognitive development. We believe that by ensuring that our children receive a broad, ambitious, research-based curriculum that uses well-planned and sequenced programmes of learning, then our children can experience success both academically but also personally.
The needs of our children are paramount. We strongly believe in providing them with enriching, creative, meaningful learning experiences both through the curriculum but also through extra-curricular provision. We also know that education is best provided when there is a successful partnership between home and school. We work closely with our families so that all children can be as successful as possible during their time with us.
I hope that this website will give you all the information you require. We warmly welcome visits to our setting, either through our open events or by arrangement through our school office.
