Subject Leader: SLT

Children at CMFS will learn the basics of French as it provides an opening to another culture, fosters children’s curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world. Children in Early Years learn about the diversity of the world around them incorporating an love of languages and an appreciation of people and culture.

Our French curriculum is based on Language Angels. Through this, we prioritise speaking and listening and provide opportunities for children to communicate for practical purposes and learn new ways of thinking. Language teaching for our first school children should provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping them to study and work in other countries.

By the end of their time at CMFS, we aim for children to be able to understand and respond to spoken and written language from another language and enjoy the chance to find out about another country and its customs and features.
