Vomiting/Diarrhoea - 48 Hour Rule
If a child is absent due to vomiting or diarrhoea then they must stay away from school until they have not vomited or had diarrhoea for 48 hours.

Attendance Matters
When children attend school they:
- can achieve their full potential
- have better career prospects
- learn how to look after themselves and be healthy
- grow in confidence
- keep up with school work and homework
- make and maintain friendships
- Attendance above 96% gives your child the best chance of success for the future.
- Attendance below 95% means your child has less chance of success.
- Attendance below 90% means that they have limited chance of success and are very likely to fail or fall short of their target grades.
- Good attendance is a life skill required in all professional industries.
Any absence affects education and regular absence will seriously affect pupils’ learning. Pupils who have time off often find it difficult to catch up and do well.
90% attendance is equivalent to a pupil missing one half day per week or approximately 114 lessons per year Ensuring your child’s regular attendance at school is your legal responsibility and permitting your child to have any absence without a good reason from school is an offence in law (The Education Act 1996) and may result in legal action.
What this means at Crown Meadow
If there is a problem which is affecting your child's attendance, please contact the school to discuss these reasons. There can often be small things that school can do to support you and your child which can, in turn, improve attendance. The class teacher and Mrs Reed will be available to support with this.
When attendance falls below 95%, the child is being monitored by Mrs Reed and the class teacher.
When attendance falls below 90%, the child is identified as a persistent absentee and this may stop the child from being the best they can be. It is important the child, parents and school work together to improve attendance and so parents will be invited into school for a meeting to discuss the child's attendance with Mrs Reed and we would expect to see an improvement.
