Welcome

A message from the Headteacher

Welcome to Crown Meadow First School and Nursery. On behalf of our wonderful children, creative staff, dedicated strategic leadership team and committed governors, I am delighted to welcome you and your family to our informative website. I hope that you find this information useful, but nothing is like seeing our school in action, so please do not hesitate to visit us should you wish to find out more information.

Crown Meadow First School and Nursery is a happy, nurturing and caring school that aims to provide the highest quality education for children from 2 to 9 years old in a fantastic purpose built building, which we share with Alvechurch Library and Alvechurch Middle School. In the time children are part of our school, we make sure they are provided with a range of exciting learning opportunities that engage and challenge them as they move throughout the school.

Children in our nursery are taught by a qualified teacher and wonderful support staff.  Children progress through our two form entry school from Reception to Year 4 and are engaged in wonderful learning opportunities led by talented teachers and teaching assistants. We also offer a wide variety of clubs.

Our building has a unique design, as I am sure you will agree, and was the creative idea from the architect which was inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar story by Eric Carle and is in keeping with our commitment to Eco awareness and making full use of the outdoors to enhance the children’s learning.

As a school, we place great emphasis on the development of all aspects of learning and believe that when leaving our first school our children should be engaged, happy, life-long learners.

The children are kept at the heart of every decision that we make and we endeavour to foster a passion for lifelong learning with our children to help them develop high aspirations for themselves and a lifetime of memories. We consider the needs of the whole child to be important and aim to fully meet the needs of the social, emotional, personal and moral needs of our children. We believe that by ensuring that the children receive a well-rounded curriculum then our children can experience success in a range of both academic and non-academic areas and reach their full potential.

The needs of the children are always paramount in the decision making within our school. I strongly believe in providing the children with exciting, creative, meaningful learning experiences, which help them to develop a lifelong thirst for learning.

I strongly believe that education is best provided when there is a successful partnership between home and school. We work closely with our parents and carers so that all children are able to take advantage of the learning experiences we offer during the school day and through extra-curricular activities in order for our children to reach their full potential in becoming lifelong learners.

I hope that this website will give you as much information as possible about our school, the staff and the many activities that our children enjoy through our curriculum and our extra-curricular activities, that you need. Thank you for taking the time to view our website and please do not hesitate to make an appointment to visit us via the school office.

Best Wishes,

Interim Headteacher - Michelle Hague
